Countries with The Worst Love Life

• The United Kingdom has the worst love life in the world, with over a third of the population (34%) in the country feeling lonely.
• Love life satisfaction is lowest in South Korea, where more than half the population is disappointed in their romantic relationships. 
• Canada has the most single people, with 42% of people not having a partner.

Around 33% of the world population reports loneliness, with 27% of young adults aged 19 to 29 feeling isolated. A new study by CasinooftheKings set out to identify the countries with the worst love lives by examining key social and romantic factors. 

Relationship factors included the share of single people, the average number of sexual partners, and overall satisfaction in romantic relationships. Social factors examined marriage and divorce rates, as well as the proportion of people reporting loneliness. These elements were combined to create an overall Love Life Struggle Score, ranking countries by how content their populations are in love and relationships.

Here is the summary of the findings:

The United Kingdom has the worst love life in the world, earning a score of 100/100. Divorces here outnumber marriages, with a separation rate of 6.6 people, 2 more divorces than marriages. Over a third of the population remains single, while another third often reports feeling lonely.

Italy takes second place, earning a love life struggle score of 95. 38% of Italians are single, and 41% report frequent feelings of loneliness, 10 percent more than in the UK. Few people decide to tie the knot, with just 3.2 marriages per 1K people, explaining why only half of the population feels content with their love life. 

Canada ranks third for countries with the worst love life, with a score of 93. The country has the second-highest share of single people, with 42% not in long-term relationships. Like in Italy, many in Canada are not fulfilled by their romances, with nearly half feeling discontent and 31% often experiencing loneliness. 

South Korea comes in fourth, with a love life struggle score of 91. Young adults in South Korea are the least satisfied in their love lives, with 58% wishing for more romantic fulfillment. Around 30% of South Koreans are not romantically involved, while 38% feel social disconnection. 

Australia rounds out the top five countries with the worst love lives, scoring 84. Like Canada, singles in Australia make up 41% of the population, while 30% report feeling lonely. Two couples for every 1K people decide to separate, one relationship more than in Italy. At the same time, Australians stand out for the highest average number of sexual partners at 13.3. 

Bulgaria takes sixth place, earning a Love Life Struggle Score of 79. Bulgarians are the second least satisfied with the quality of their romantic relationships, with 53% being disappointed, 16 percentage points more than Brits. Similar to Australia, 30% report regular loneliness. Marriage rates are just as low here, at just 3.5.

France places seventh as the country with the worst love life, scoring 78. France has the highest share of people without a significant other, with nearly 50% of the population being single. The French are also lonelier than Bulgarians and Australians, as one in three feels isolated. 

Singapore lands in eighth, with a love life struggle score of 77. Singapore sees couples dissolving their marriage at the second-highest rate, with 6.3 divorces, three times more than in France. 30% of the population is not romantically involved and reports loneliness. 

Brazil shares eighth place, also with a score of 77. Brazilians are the loneliest in the top ten, with exactly half the population expressing feelings of isolation. One in three is unattached romantically, and divorce rates stand at 1.4. 

The United States finishes off the list of countries with the worst love lives, earning a Love Life Struggle Score of 75. Nearly 39% of Americans are single, with 31% reporting frequent loneliness. The average number of sexual partners is 10.7, matching Canada, while love life satisfaction sits at 56%, slightly below Singapore and France.
