OLG Breaks Ground With Inclusive Slot Game Red Panda Tails of Wealth
OLG has released Red Panda Tails of Wealth, the first online slot with built-in accessibility features, setting a new standard for inclusivity in the gambling industry.
The question of inclusivity is one that emerges in all areas of e-commerce, but until now, it’s largely passed the gambling industry by. Those with additional needs have so far had to rely on individual operators to meet their requirements, and progress in this respect has generally been slow.
All of this could be set to change with the launch of a new casino game. Red Panda Tails of Wealth is a groundbreaking new online slot with built-in accessible features, and it seems certain that many similar releases will follow its lead.
OLG Makes the Breakthrough
The launch of Red Panda Tails of Wealth was announced in May 2025 by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG.) At the time of its release, the slot carried a number of assistive features, and it is widely accepted as the first of its kind.
Included in the mechanics are benefits for the visually impaired. Red Panda Tails of Wealth features a high-contrast colour palette which will enhance visibility across all devices. The heads-up display also helps those with sight impairments and it’s been designed by the developers to fit easily alongside new games coming along in the future.
Red Panda Tails of Wealth is also compatible with existing assistive technologies such as keyboard navigation and screen readers. This means that players can quickly and simply adapt the game to suit their individual preferences. Adjusting win lines and setting stakes can be carried out much more easily using this type of technology.
The game has come about as part of a collaboration between the OLG and game developers at Pixiu Gaming and Light & Wonder Spark. After a period of successful testing, Red Panda Tails of Wealth was deemed ready to be released into the Canadian online casino market.
Excitement about the Release
As the news was confirmed, OLG’s Chief Gaming Officer announced the organisation’s delight at the development.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation are rightly proud of their new product, and it’s good to see them aiming to cover an area of casino play where support is desperately needed. It is, however, just a start.
Work to be Done
The arrival of an inclusive slot game is widely welcomed, but there is much more work to be done in this area. Red Panda Tails of Wealth is just one slot in the many thousands that currently exist across the online casino industry.
New games will undoubtedly come onto the market, but developers could also look at adjusting online slots, and other casino titles, that are already on the schedules. It could be argued that there has already been a precedent. When mobile casino play began to take hold in the 2010s, very few slot games could easily be transferred to a mobile device.
Over time, all new casino games are optimised for mobile while most historic titles have also been successfully adapted. If it can be done for mobile optimisation, the potential is there for accessibility and the possibilities are undoubtedly immense for this neglected area of the casino sector.
