The analysis focuses on 5* hotels, Michelin-star restaurants, and 5* spas and luxury experiences in the city, with data sourced from TripAdvisor and Booking.com. The composite score was calculated based on the density of each luxury establishment type.

Miami 16.1 15.0 37.5 53.6 81

The tourist city that is best for a luxury getaway is Paris with the perfect score of 100, reflecting the high density of luxury hotels, spas, and restaurants. The City of Love offers 161 5-star hotels per 100 km2 and over 167 spas and wellness centers.

Melbourne ranks second in the list of the tourist cities that are the best luxury getaways, with a score of 98. When it comes to luxury experiences, the capital of Australia offers the second-highest density of 5* hotels, with 118.9. At the same time, the density of spas in Melbourne is two times less than in Paris.

Barcelona takes third place, getting a score of 95. The city has the second-highest number of Michelin restaurants in the list, with 31, offering a wide range of luxury culinary experiences. The famous tourist spot offers many 5* spas and wellness centers, with a density of 149.9.

Kuala Lumpur follows closely with fourth place and a score of 94, just one below Barcelona. The city has the most 5-star hotels in the top 10, with 243 but because the city is twice as big as Paris or Barcelona, the density of luxury accommodations is lower. The density of private luxury experiences is still high at 220.2.

Boston is fifth in the ranking of the tourist cities for the best luxury getaways, scoring 92. The biggest luxury advantage of Boston is the density of 5* spas, with 220.8.

In sixth place is Amsterdam, with an overall score of 89. The second-biggest city in the top 10, it offers 15.7 5-star hotels per 100km2. Just like Barcelona, Amsterdam has 31 Michelin-starred restaurants from which tourists can choose.

Zurich ranks seventh, earning a score of 88. The city is famous for its hot springs and has a high density of 5* spas and wellness centers at 63.1. When it comes to luxury hotel density, it is a little lower than in Amsterdam, with 13.1.

Vancouver holds the eighth spot, with a score of 86. Similar in size to Boston and Paris, it has a lower density of luxury hotels and spas, with 12.2 and 51.2 respectively.

San Francisco is ninth, scoring 84. The city has more Michelin restaurants than Zurich and Vancouver but the overall density of private luxury experiences is similar to Vancouver.

Miami closes the ranking of the tourist cities for luxury getaways with tenth place and a score of 81. Third U.S. city in the list, it has a higher density of 5-star hotels and Michelin restaurants than San Francisco and Boston but there are fewer private luxury experiences to choose from, with 53.6 per 100 km2.

A spokesperson from CasinooftheKings commented on the study: “The most visited cities in the world often emphasize accessibility over exclusivity, yet they still have luxury districts where five-star hotels stand shoulder to shoulder. Paris has 10 palatial hotels within a square mile, while Rome packs 12 Michelin-starred restaurants into its historic center. The trends show that luxury travelers are increasingly choosing these ‘high-density prestige zones’ over isolated resorts, getting both iconic landmarks and exclusive experiences without compromise.
