Destinations where people propose the most

• Analysis reveals New York City as the World’s proposal hotspot with the highest share of Instagram engagement and proposal location searches on Google.
• Chicago residents search for engagement photographers more than residents of any other city.
• Living up to its romantic reputation, Paris captures the most proposal moments on Instagram.

A recent study by CasinooftheKings identified the top cities worldwide where proposals are most frequent based on online engagement and search behavior. Data was collected from Instagram hashtags such as #[city]proposal and #[city]engagement, as well as Google search volumes for queries related to proposal ideas, best places to propose, engagement photographers, and engagement rings. A composite score was calculated, and cities were ranked in descending order, with higher scores indicating a greater frequency of proposal-related activity.

New York City leads the rankings with a composite score of 99. The city has the highest number of Instagram hashtags for engagements at almost 72K and dominates Google searches for proposal ideas, engagement rings, and proposal locations. 

Chicago ranks second with a composite score of 92. The city’s residents are the most active in searching for engagement photographers, with more than 4K monthly searches. Chicago’s Instagram presence is equally strong, with 12K posts under #Chicagoproposal. 

Paris, the City of Love, is in third place with a composite score of 61. The city records 27K posts under #Parisproposal, the highest among all cities worldwide for proposal-specific Instagram hashtags.

London ranks fourth with a composite score of 58. The city leads all others in searches for engagement rings, with 18K monthly queries—more than seven times the number recorded in Dubai. Furthermore, it records significant engagement on Instagram with 16.9K posts under #Londonengagement.

Sydney follows in fifth place with a composite score of 32. The city shows significant Instagram engagement, with 22K posts under #Sydneyengagement. While it ranks lower overall, Sydney stands out as one of the most photographed destinations for proposals.

Dubai ranks sixth with a composite score of 28. It records 10K posts under #Dubaiproposal and performs well on Instagram, showing its growing popularity as a destination for luxurious engagements.

Bali, ranking seventh with a composite score of 27, stands out for its 35K Instagram posts under #Baliengagement, more than any other city in the lower half of the rankings. Its Instagram presence outshines that of Dubai, but its limited searches for proposal ideas and related services hold it back from climbing higher.

Florida comes in eighth with a composite score of 26. While it records fewer Instagram posts under #Floridaengagement (24K) compared to Bali, its 2,850 monthly searches for engagement photographers outpaces both Dubai and Bali.

Las Vegas takes ninth place with a composite score of 24. It records 13.8K posts under #Vegasengagement, performing better on Instagram than Florida, though it falls behind in search activity.

Miami rounds out the top ten with a composite score of 21. Miami records 26K Instagram posts under #Miamiengagement, exceeding Las Vegas and even London in social media engagement.
